So there I was, exploring my world, at least that slice of it to be found on-line.  I innocently scrolled through items listed under the “News” topic on WordPress, when I run into dire news indeed.  It seems we’re doomed, or that’s what Light Worker 29501 would have us believe:

CNN NEWS REPORT: Nibiru, Brown Dwarf, Wormwood Is Real and Has Arrived! | Light Worker 29501.

Nibiru, a Brown Dwarf Star three times bigger than Jupiter, is cruising towards the earth, and will cause increasing tidal disturbances and earthquakes and what not.  Only private astronomers are talking about this, the theory goes, because the U.S. Government has too much discipline to leak such a frightening story.  I must admit I hadn’t notice that facet of American life: it has long seemed to me that Washington is a perpetual Leakapalooza, and what self-respecting Republican wouldn’t take the opportunity to criticize President Obama for somehow inviting the catastrophe, or taking a weak approach to this Brown Dwarf Star when we should be going to war, or some such notion?

This story has traction, though, it really does, so much that NASA devotes pages of detailed information to rebutting this web of conspiracy theories:

Collisions date from July to December 2012, based on sources including amateur astronomy buffs, a psychic Wisconsin resident in telepathic contact with aliens, and/or ancient Sumerian texts:

CNN’s website claims to have no listing of this Nibiru story; although we have Light Worker 29501′s word and a You Tube video.

Truly, it pays to keep your eyes open and your critical thinking turned on to full power when searching the web.  Do I take this issue seriously.  Of course I do: I’m a Psych Nurse, this kind of stuff is my bread and butter….
